The Working through S.C.A.L.E. Program Launches at the Perry Ave Commons 

We are excited to announce the launch of the Working Through S.C.A.L.E. (Sustainable Collaborations Across Living Ecologies) program in partnership with the Chicago Academy of Sciences/ Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum. The S.C.A.L.E. program will identify and integrate open science hardware for environmental and ecological monitoring into existing programs to create collaborative, teen-driven investigations of the  environment across the city.

Meet Natalie Zepeda, an architecture student at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) who has been interning at Sweet Water Foundation (SWF) since December 2017. After discovering SWF’s pop-up shop at the Chicago Design Museum, Natalie found that she fit right in with the Sweet Water team. She has been using her skills as an architecture student to draw designs and build 3D models at the Perry Ave Commons. 

Chicago International Puppet Theater Festival @ the Commons

 

On Friday, April 20, 2018, Sweet Water Foundation hosted the Chicago International Puppet Theater Festival’s Neighborhood Tour in the Work-Shop at the Perry Ave Commons. In the days leading up to this special event, Sweet Water staff transformed the carpentry and design workshop into a unique theatre setting, utilizing SWF’s versatile, fractal seats.
