Spring 2023 has been jam-packed with activities, engagement, and hard work. From in-school and onsite Seeding the Future lessons with Beasley Academic Center, to numerous hands-on immersions with university groups, to daily farm, garden, and carpentry work, The Commonwealth is beginning to transform for the busy summer season.
Spring kicked-off with a road trip to Detroit, where SWF co-led a historic hand-raising of the Meeting House on the East Side of Detroit with Freedom Dreams and other Values-Based Partners from around the country. In April and early May, the team continued prepping for harvest season, focusing on transplanting on the Community Farm, Community Garden, and for the Seedling Market. In May, we officially launched Wellness Wednesdays, welcoming community members and visitors to plug into farm + garden tasks, and hosted our first Seedling Market in Meeting House.
With summer quickly approaching, we invite you to take a moment to read about the happenings at The Commonwealth!
There GROWS the neighborhood!
