On Saturday, June 18, 2022, Sweet Water Foundation will host its Fifth Annual Juneteenth Celebration at The Commonwealth. This family-friendly event will welcome an international audience to create, build, and celebrate freedom + community.

Jeremiah Collier & the ReUp

Jeremiah Collier has been playing a full set of drums since the age of two. He has now been playing around the Chicagoland area professionally for the past 10 years, and is a part of the Stanley Clarke Band. His band, JC & The ReUp, is working on an EP that will be released soon.

AFRORACK™ is an audio arts organization that aims to help the community develop and thrive through technology resources. They are committed to providing youth and young adults of color access to modular synthesizers and sound design tools.

Azania Drum Core

Azania Drum Core represents leadership, dedication, and a willingness to learn and work as a team through West African music. Started in 2000 by Baba Meshach Silas and Mama Ann Ward, and housed at Betty Shabazz International Charter School, Azania added an entirely new element of culture, creativity, and history to Chicago by catering to children who want to learn how to play djembe and dunduns.

Shon Dervis

Shon Dervis is a DJ, musician, and producer who has been on the local and national scene for more than 20 years. His knowledge and love of music, along with his ability to seamlessly blend genres and cultures, has elevated him amongst Chicago’s music selectors.
